Thanksgiving.

Nov. 26th, 2009 | 06:03 pm
Feeling: pensive pensive
Listening to: You & I -> angel song - the brilliant green

Like all holidays, I don't really do much. I don't see family. I don't have a big dinner. I do feel somewhat sad that I don't have that, and haven't for many years. But, at least in the future, I know I will. When I'm married, my parents and spouse's parents will be there, and children, and nieces and nephews, and inlaws and my brother and his wife. And so, I can look forward to that day.

For the remainder of the evening, I guess I'll continue reading Harry Potter stuff and manga, and relaxing...tomorrow, I see Joanne and others, and the same goes for Saturday. Sunday morning, I head back up to Bing with John.

I suppose I'll get through all my readings Sunday and Monday, and work on my paper for Jap. some more. I have a very long and torturous 3 weeks ahead of me. *le sigh*. -A-;

Shit.

Nov. 26th, 2009 | 03:36 am
Feeling: oh boy. oh boy.

So, I just realized that I have an Ecology paper due on Friday, 12/4, an Orgo test on Tuesday, 12/8, a presentation for Japanese Culture on the same day, a Philosophy paper due on Thursday, 12/10, the term paper for said Japanese Culture presentation due on Friday, 12/11 (by 5pm; or, it might be due on Thursday 12/10, not entirely sure yet), my Philosophy final on 12/15, Orgo final on 12/16, and Ecology final on 12/17.

I also still have to finish readings for both Philosophy and Orgo.

...

Just kill me now. :(

On the bright side, I've finally gotten a new cell phone. PRAISE THE LAWD.

It's a Nokia Mural, and it lights up in the color of your choice. Right now I have it set to blue. :D lol. Only problem is, though I was able to transfer my addressbook over, I lost all the music Kenny had put on my Razor phone. And, I tried putting Kalinka on the Nokia, but...though it would download to the phone, it refuses to set it as the ringtone because the "file size is too large." :( So, right now, I have a 9-second-long track from Azumanga Daioh as my ringtone. -_-;; Oh well. Guess it was time for a change. -_-; lol.

Ugh.

Nov. 19th, 2009 | 07:50 pm
Feeling: blah blah

The dining hall closest to me closes in 13 minutes. I don't feel like getting food right now, though.

I feel tired; my eyes are slightly burning.

I should probably try to get more philosophy readings done...*sigh*.

I need to start thinking about gifts for Christmas/Hannukah. It's not as easy as it used to be, considering my current financial situation. :/ Ah well.

Sigh.

Nov. 18th, 2009 | 04:36 pm

I feel bored. I don't really have anything impending to get done. I have an Ecology quiz tomorrow at 6pm, but I don't feel like studying for it right now. I have a Japanese Culture quiz right before that too, but I always study for those immediately before taking them anyway. I don't have an Orgo quiz next week. I have a test in Jap. Cult. on Tuesday at 4:25pm, but I'll probably study for that Monday. Oh, and I could always work on the draft for the essay for said class. It's not due for a while, though, and I haven't gotten comments back yet...lol. I guess I should try to catch up with my Philosophy readings...I'm pretty behind on them. :/

This time next week - actually, sooner: Tuesday night - I'll be home. I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, without ear plugs; to seeing my cats and Ian and mom (my dad's alright, but I'm not exactly thrilled to see him, lol); to (hopefully) seeing my friends; and of course, to just plainly and simply relaxing. Not like I don't do that here, but...relaxing in my own bedroom, by myself. That'll be nice. Also, I'll get a new phone, a haircut, and go to the dentist to make sure I don't have a cavity forming.

I'd like to pick up an LSAT Prep book, as well as more manga (so I can read during BIO 117 lecture). I'm thinking LoveCom, Honey & Clover, and...hmm, that should be good for now.

I might eat dinner with Tarry tonight; I haven't seen her since the summer.

Evan's not gonna be done with Magic tonight until like 9pm or 10pm (the latter's more likely -_-), and I have class at 9am (instead of 8:30am, at least, lol) tomorrow morning...So, I'd like to be in bed no later than 11:30pm, if possible...though I don't doubt it'll likely end up being midnight or 12:30am if I do indeed hang out with him, lol.

He's also going to a tournament tomorrow night, as he usually does, so I guess I can work on the next Orgo chapter after I'm done with my Ecology quiz.

It's kind of weird, not feeling like I have as much to do, lol.

Next semester, I might have even more time; or maybe not, haha. I'll be taking Orgo 2, a 300-level philosophy course called 'Philosophy of Law,' Envi 201, and a course called 'Film Noir' to fulfill my aesthetics requirement. I'll probably t.a. for Bio 117 again if they have enough room for me. Because Bio 117 lecture is the same time as that of my philosophy course, I won't have to attend...so, that'll be 3 less hours a week of class that I'll have next semester as compared to now. In other words, the only time I'll have to put in for the t.a. thing is 3 hours a week for lab, 1-2 hours a week for t.a. meetings, and maybe like 30 minutes-1 hour to prep for labs/discussions. Not bad at all.

So, assuming I end up t.a.ing again, here's my schedule for next semester (everything else is definite, aside from the t.a. stuff):

Well, I guess I'll just continue futzing around until 5pm, grab something to eat, and try to get some work done. :/

I have a question.

Nov. 14th, 2009 | 09:36 pm

If doing something you enjoy doing upsets someone you care about, even if you feel you have a right to engage in the activity, how can you still truly enjoy it knowing that you're upsetting them? Wouldn't it take away from it? D:

Today is a summer service day

Nov. 1st, 2009 | 01:24 am
Feeling: productive productive

So, I took my Phil midterm on Thursday. I went back to my Orgo text last night at approximately 7pm, and finished chapter 5 and half of chapter 6. Today, I finished chapters 6 and 7. I'm still a bit fuzzy on some of the things in chapter 7 (also, don't know precisely which things I don't need to know), but yeah. Tomorrow, I intend to finish all of chapter 8, and start going over review materials. Monday, Anna and I will be studying together the entire day.

I can't wait til the test is done with on Tuesday night.

I've learnt my lesson, though: I cannot slack off like this again. -_-; lol. I just need to try to do...I don't know, even 10 text book pages a day, so long as I finish one chapter a week and am able to keep up with what's on the weekly quizzes. I also need to start doing that with my Philosophy readings. -_-; That's not as big of a deal, though, so long as I'm doing everything on the weekends and don't fall too far behind. -_-; lol.

I am so happy daylight savings time is ending.

Well, my roommate is probably going to wake up early to go to Church, so I'm gonna get to sleep soon so as to get a sufficient amount of sleep prior to being woken up (accidentally). :0

G'night, all! ¦3

Well, this is good.

Oct. 25th, 2009 | 12:31 am
Feeling: productive productive

So, while digging through my backpack (the same one that Josh and Marc got me back in 11th grade, lol), I found one of my pairs of earplugs! :D

I'd been making due without them so far this semester, but I feel I haven't been as productive as I used to be. I attributed it to the fact that I have a boyfriend, though.

BUT

I've discovered that the earplugs make a significant difference in the ease with which my ability to remain focused may be enacted. I think it might have something to do with completely shutting everything out - if I can't even hear my own breathing, it's a lot easier for me to switch into hyperfocused study mode.

The only downside: with increased focus, comes increased social anxiety/feelings of awkwardness around other people. Hooray! 8D

I've finished about a chapter's worth of my Orgo text since I started at around 5pm; not the greatest, but it's a start. Hopefully I can get through everything I need to in time.

What are the distinguishing points?

Oct. 23rd, 2009 | 09:32 pm
Feeling: content content

What differentiates 'being thoughtful' from 'being romantic'? )

I feel good after writing this. :D I think I'll attempt to study a bit more for Philosophy now. :]

Spring Semester 2010!!! 8D

Oct. 23rd, 2009 | 11:36 am
Listening to: Language Symbolique - Postal Service

So, yesterday I went through my semesterly schedule neurosis. 8D

Here is my tentative schedule for the spring!!! 8DDDDDD

I'm only going to post my first and second choices, though, to spare you all. ¦D

And here's my second choice, assuming I can't get into the afternoon Orgo lecture (but hopefully I will, since I have junior standing):

Also I accidentally overtweezed my eyebrows again just now. :(

'Kay, I'm hungry, so Imma go eat now. :0

Orgo Exam

Oct. 15th, 2009 | 03:21 pm
Feeling: cold cold
Listening to: Duvet - Boa (Lain Opening Theme)

I must have gone through my Orgo exam at least 5 times, since we're supposed to check to make sure everything was added properly...and, I keep getting at least 15 points lower than the score written on the exam. Maybe I'm missing something? lol. Oh well, no complaints here. I thought I failed, but I actually got 222/270...and then found out it's ACTUALLY 233/270. The average was about 196.5 (72%); and I got about 86%. :D Not the greatest score, but definitely nice considering how forcefully that test was thrusting into my butt. I guess it was more like having sex for the first time with some reluctance, rather than being raped: you know it's going to happen, but you can't back out now, and you feel like you'll never recover; but then, you realize afterwards that it really wasn't that bad. Well, I assume. I'm still a virgin. ¦D lol.

Uhhhh...I haven't gotten anything done yet today since I got back from class 2.5 hours ago. Poop. :(

I have class again in less than an hour. D: lol.

It's so cold. It was flurrying earlier. D:

I was in bed last night by 11:45pm; and, although I was woken up by one of my suitemates being loud at 6am, and again by my roommate getting ready for class from around 7am to 7:45am, I still felt more well-rested on a Tuesday/Thursday morning than I have in a long time. My eyes are burning right now, though. ¦D lol.

K, I guess I'll go try and do some research for the presentation I have due on Tuesday. :0

Sep. 27th, 2009 | 08:02 pm

So, I went home this weekend (John drove me). I'm happy I did. I got to see Steph Tinio and Steph Lerch today, and tomorrow I'm going to synagogue before John and I head back up to Binghamton at noon. I'm gonna go watch t.v. now. :)

Always.

Sep. 24th, 2009 | 07:58 pm
Listening to: Rise (Yoko Kanno); Inner Universe (Yoko Kanno); Yasashii Gogo (Minawo)

At times, you do or say certain things, and misunderstandings and the bad feelings which follow make me want to pull away.

And yet...you always manage to get a grasp on my slipping fingers and pull me back, into your warm embrace.

And to my surprise, your hold is not slackened, but tightened, with each resolution.

And I feel myself drawn willingly ever closer.

Congratulations! You're most like Higurashi Kagome! You're extremely nice, and very selfless. You can make good friends easily because you're kind and caring. Just remember to keep your temper! You can be very scary when you're mad!

I should really study Orgo or write my Ecology paper now. -_-; lol.

So tired. =A=

Sep. 4th, 2009 | 12:27 am
Feeling: exhausted exhausted

So, I'm almost done with my first week of classes. Tuesdays and Thursdays are terribly brutal for me: I wake up at 7:50am for Orgo at 8:30am (although, because I'm a light sleeper, and my roommate wakes up around 7am, I end up waking up earlier and just laying in bed with my eyes closed for the remaining 50 minutes), and sit through that for an hour and 25 minutes; I then go directly to another hour and 25 minute lecture, this time of Law and Justice; directly succeeding this class is yet another - Ecology (Biology 355), which is an hour long. So, I have class back to back from 8:30am to 1:05pm. Then, about 3 hours later, I have Intro to Japanese Culture for an hour and 25 minutes. On Tuesdays, my last class of the day is a 2-hour long Orgo discussion section, from 7-9pm; on Thursdays, Japanese Culture is directly followed by an hour-long discussion section for Ecology, so I end at 7pm. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are a LOT more laid back - I only have one discussion section on Fridays (for Law and Justice), and the Biology class I'm TAing for has hour long lectures, 10:50am-11:50am, MWF, a discussion section Monday nights 7-9pm, a lab 3:30-6:30pm on Wednesdays, and some hours devoted to a TA meeting every Friday at 1pm (don't know how long it'll be yet, but I won't be there the full time anyway, as I'll be coming when I'm done with Law and Justice discussion). It sounds like a lot, but I have hours of free time MWF, particularly Mondays and Fridays.

The TAing is going pretty well thus far: I had my first lab section this week, and I brought a group of 12 students by myself into the nature preserve. I was really nervous and afraid of screwing up, but one of the students, whom I was talking to afterwards, told me when I asked her that she thought I did a good job. ^^

Orgo...is going to be a challenge, as I predicted. The text book chapters average at 40 pages each. And the material itself looks complex. Fortunately, I have two friends whom I can discuss everything with, which is definitely going to help ease some of the stress, lol.

Law and Justice is VERY interesting...and the professor, Charles Goodman, seems really great. I also made a friend in that class too. :D lol. I need to get caught up with the readings though...so, I plan to get on that this weekend.

Ecology is cool as well. The professor has a heavy Chinese accent, but if I listen closely I can understand the vast majority of what he's saying, so it's fine. The material does not appear to be at all beyond my abilities, so I should be capable of achieving an A, so long as I study, etc. The TA is really nice. And I found out attendance won't be taken at discussion, so my group can meet there or any other time that works for us all.

Intro to Japanese Culture is good too. I like Sode-sensei - she's adorable xD - and the material is interesting. :) I made a friend there as well! :D lol.

Aaaaaand...I of course am friends with a bunch of the other TAs for the intro bio course.

So, this week doesn't even feel like the first. It feels like I've been here for so much longer, lol. I've been sleeping over in Evan's and Curt's room almost every night (save Monday and Wednesday nights), so I've gotten to know their suitemates pretty well. xD I like hanging out with Curt and Evan. :D Curt's such a sweetheart. ^^ My own suitemates are awesome as well: my roommate, Steph, is so sweet, and Serena's awesome too. Christina I haven't seen much of, but she's alright as well. xD Melanie and Jhane pretty much keep to themselves, but they're pretty chill too. :)

So, I have a lot of work to do. But I'm so tired right now, haha. xD I didn't really do much today, because I've been exhausted. xD Fortunately, we have off on Monday, so I can use the three-day weekend as an opportunity to catch up with the readings for all of my classes.

Tomorrow night, I'm going on a moonlight hike with Emily in the nature preserve. :D *excited* xD :D

Alright, I think I'm going to get to sleep now, lol. G'night! :D

Um...

This morning...er, early afternoon...I saw Ponyo (the new Hayao Miyazaki film) with my mom at the theater at Tanger Outlet. It was really good, and super cute! X3 Possibly my favorite retelling of The Little Mermaid yet. X3

Gonna go to a bbq in like an hour, lol.

Street Fair! :D

Aug. 23rd, 2009 | 12:50 am
Listening to: Mirai Seiki Maruhi Club - Kyoko

Tomorrow, I'm going to a street fair in the city. I've never been to one before, as far as I'm aware. I'm excited! I hope I'll get to try dango. :D

Speaking of...

This song is so cute...it makes me squeal with joy. ;A; lol.

And, I've been pretty crazy about the ending theme to Boogiepop phantom lately. It's a cool song. :3

If I were a pokemon, I'd apparently be Blissy, at least according to this online quiz.

So, tomorrow I hang out with Aya...Monday I see Dan...Tuesday a bbq at Catherine's house...and Wednesday the beach. =] I wish I'd gotten to see more people, but not much I can do now. Ah well. The next break will come soon enough, I know.
